Agree the work before it begins

Each engagement needs a written scope identifying the parties, activities, locations, outputs, assumptions, exclusions and acceptance criteria. Website descriptions are starting points for that discussion. A proposal must also identify the responsible consultant, client sponsor, reviewers and any necessary licensed specialists.

Client responsibilities

The client provides accurate information, lawful access, competent personnel and timely decisions. Client management retains authority over implementation and operational safety. Missing inputs, changed conditions or unavailable specialists may require a revised scope or schedule. Safety-critical deliverables require competent review before use.

Commercial and change terms

Fees, billing currency, applicable taxes, expenses, milestones and payment dates must be stated in the accepted proposal. Additional sites, activities or review rounds require agreed change control. Suspension, cancellation, delays and refunds must be addressed in the engagement with applicable mandatory rights preserved. No universal deposit or cancellation percentage is imposed by this draft.

Confidentiality and handover

Agree permitted communication channels, data access, retention and handover arrangements before exchanging restricted information. The engagement must distinguish client materials, existing templates and bespoke deliverables, including any permitted reuse. Portfolio use or external sharing requires appropriate permission. Liability, insurance, dispute, language and governing-law terms require qualified legal review.

Limits of consulting support

Consulting does not guarantee certification, regulator approval, zero incidents or a particular commercial outcome. Statutory inspections, medical or legal opinions, engineering certification and accredited testing require the appropriate authorised provider. Third-party arrangements and fees must be disclosed and agreed.

Before launch, identify the legal entity, contact channel, jurisdictional basis, effective date, retention schedule and approved processor list; then obtain legal review.
